Ok I know none of you have any idea about Rugby League. It is an offshoot of Rugby Union (Gnappy Union is the game you watched the other day where the All Blacks beat Canada) so here are a few clips of my favourite player in the national league. His name is Sonny Bill Williams and the kid is a freak. I say kid because most of this footage was taken in his rookie year when he was 19. That year my team the Bulldogs won the title. Have a look at some of his trademark hits. Remember, no pads, no helmets!
and lastly we have a 3 game series every year called State of Origin. It is played between players picked to represent their home state, eith Queensland or New South Wales. It is fiercesome and means more to some players than winning the title. It is played with such passion that fights are almost a fait acompli. Here is a retrospective clip from game 2 in the 1995 series. (Amazingly State of Origin was played in california one year as an exhibition!!!)

That is some crazy shit. I don't understand all the rules of rugby, but I love that it's a sport of true motherfucking gladiators, man. If you're not with balls-out attitude and intensity 100% of the time, you shouldn't be in there. Great sport! It's hard to catch it, though, here in the states. For some reason, the people who pay for television commercials just want to same old shit known as football, baseball, and basketball. Hockey doesn't even really get the play it should here.
