QUOTE(belicked6924 @ Jul 29 2006, 02:02 AM) As much as love Tarentino's works and sick and twisted mind that is the only movie of his that I've never seen in its entirty. I've heard a few theories as to the what is in the case, but I don't have any to offer currently. (May have to make Sunday a movie night) I am astounded

QUOTE(bondiguy @ Jul 28 2006, 07:38 PM) I think this is an apt a thread as any to talk movies! I watched Pulp Fiction today for the first time in years and I almost forgot what a great moive it is. Tarantino is without doubt a genius in the art of film making, I dig 99% of things he is involved in. The question I put to all of you that have seen the movie... what is in the case? I have my own theories but would like to hear some others first as to not corrupt anyone's mind It is one of my favourite movies ever. Tarantino is a great director to be sure, but he is an even gretaer writer in my opinion, he just writes some cool fuckin dialogue! Pulp fiction is an obvious example but so are True Romance and From Dusk Til Dawn. And everything about the Kill Bill movies was over the top, although I liked the first one better, but they are love em or hate em movies. Haven't seen Hostel yet, so no comment thus far. I too think that what is is the briefcase is nothing specific but maybe bits of everything, never meant to be concretely defined. Cool fact: the book Vincent is reading throughout the movie is a Modesty Blaise novel, which is of course a pulp fiction book. (and contrary to popular interwed belief, not all the clocks in the movie are set to 4:20) QUOTE(bondiguy @ Aug 7 2006, 12:09 AM) CP for being a relative Movie Buff I am astounded you have never seen Pulp Fiction. It would orob be in my top 5 films of all time the key word there is 'relative' movie buff

QUOTE(bondiguy @ Aug 7 2006, 02:09 AM) CP for being a relative Movie Buff I am astounded you have never seen Pulp Fiction. It would orob be in my top 5 films of all time I know I am shocked too everyone talks about it, just never seemed to be my type of movie though but I will see if it is on Video on Demand and watch it. Rented Inside Man and Larry the Cable inspector I think is the name of it so will watch those. I really liked American Beauty it is on of my top ten I would say. Allthough it is hard for me to have a top ten cause I love so many movies.

I held off seeing it at first as I thought it was one of those sappy critically acclaimed movies cuz of the title, when it was in fact a kickass critically acclaimed movie.

Also Tarantino as a write is a step above the pack... great dialogue indeed! Loved Kill Bill 1 and 2, 1 was my fav but 2 tied it up nicely Also have not seen Hostel, as I am not really into gore movies Oh and I remember getting dragged to American Beauty when it was first released by an ex girlfriend thinking like you gnappy that it was going to be sappy but it is a brilliant film indeed

QUOTE(Gnappster @ Aug 8 2006, 05:38 PM) great movie! I held off seeing it at first as I thought it was one of those sappy critically acclaimed movies cuz of the title, when it was in fact a kickass critically acclaimed movie. I didn't see it either from the previews I was like I'll pass. THan when it one tons and tons of awards I was like hMMMMM Maybe I will give it a shot and besides a few long parts it was very much a kickass movie. So watched Inside Man last night WHAT A DISAPOINTMENT I was so eager to see this move and it dragged on SO MUCH and the plot was not that great there were like three funny things denzel washington said that made it OK but still the movie SUCKED.

I know I suck. Just doesn't seem like my type of movie but than again American Beauty didn't either. I am into horror and gore movies but hostel was more porn than anything. I mean if you not into gore there are parts that are pretty gory, the very few they show are enough to make you squirm but I think the movie had as many tits in it as Showgirls did. Ok not that much but close.

My wife isn't a big Tarantino fan or anything and she loved both Kill Bill movies. They can be appreciated on a lot of levels, on their reference to old kung fu movies, the great storyline, the dialogue, the cinematography, it's all good. QUOTE(bondiguy @ Aug 9 2006, 10:55 PM) Kill Bill had isn't horror or gore... if you can sit through Hostel, Kill Bill will be a walk in the park Lots of blood in it but it's more like campy over the top kung fu movie blood.

QUOTE(Cutie_Pie @ Aug 10 2006, 11:34 AM) See I am not much of a kung fu movie fan I will give it a shot though the only kung fu movies I liked were the ones that were also something else to them like the one with Jackie Chan and I cant think of his name the Guy from FRIDAY. And I liked Romeo Must Die. not like I LOVED it but for a mainly kingfu movie I liked it. I will give them a try sometime soon. Well my wife isn't either. She didn't enjoy them as a martial arts movie or as homage to old japanese kung fu films but just for how good they are on their own. That's the cool thing, you can enjoy them as a standalone work or for all the stuff they reference. They aren't so much like a modern martial arts movie, more of a throwback to old kung fu movies out of the 70's. I remember watching ones starring Bruce Li (not not Bruce LEE) and they were really campy, so much so that they were humourous. The scenes with Pai Mei in Kill Bill are a lot like those old films. QUOTE(ddd35 @ Aug 10 2006, 11:45 AM) We watched the new larry the cable guy movie (health inspector ) I liked it but im a country hick , but if you dont like farting , shitting , and general nasty language I wouldnt watch it .. That describes the sense of humour of most of the males here haha.

The most violent scene is the opening one featuring the bride, which is more shocking than violent! The over the top blood is more hilarious than gory and the dialogue, cinemaphotography, storyline are all great es Gnappy suggests
