So at another fine message board I post at they have a Movie Monologue thread and I thought I would duplicate that thread here.

I love a movie monologue. In my opinion it can make an average movie memorable or a make a great movie not so great.

So post your favourite, least favourite, 14th favourite monologue here for all of us to enjoy.

I'll kick it off:

"The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the iniquities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he, who in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who would attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee."
-Jules, Pulp Fiction

Good idea. I'm too lazy to look for the script, though I bet I could find it with little effort, but this I do love this monologue. It's not really life-changing or anything, but it's still great in the movie.

here's the link to the vid

The first one is great Bob, a good movie. I have never seen the Al Pacino football film but it is a very cliched sporting film monologue I have to say

It is pretty clichéd, but I like it for some reason. for me anyway, it was a different kind of sport-themed movie, and I think the monologue didn't exactly fit the typical do it for this guy, or don't let them do this to us kind of speech. It focused more on the team he was talking to, cuz thta's who mattered at the moment, and what they had to do to get their F-ing job done. For me, I think the movie in general fit the typical sporting movie genre, but it also went a little beyond and actually got a little artsy... if you wanted it to be. But it also satisfied the person who just wanted a football movie.

anyway... I like that monologue cuz it got me thinking... which is very hard to do.

Man, I see in fight club the strongest and smartest men who've ever lived. I see all this potential, and I see squandering. God damn it, an entire generation pumping gas, waiting tables; slaves with white collars. Advertising has us chasing cars and clothes, working jobs we hate so we can buy shit we don't need. We're the middle children of history, man. No purpose or place. We have no Great War. No Great Depression. Our Great War's a spiritual war... our Great Depression is our lives. We've all been raised on television to believe that one day we'd all be millionaires, and movie gods, and rock stars. But we won't. And we're slowly learning that fact. And we're very, very pissed off.
-Tyler Durden, Fight Club 1999
